My Apologies!

I have high ambitions for this website, yet life keeps getting in the way. πŸ™‚ I just wanted to take a minute toΒ apologize about the lack of posts. As some of you may know, I recently moved in March. While I originally planned on posting at least one blog entry a month, apartment hunting, work, and packing left little time for research and writing. Now that I’ve moved, the unpacking and organizing has still left little time for research and writing. But never fear – before life got crazy I made a list of blog topics to add to the site, and pretty soon I should be back in the swing of things.

In the spirit of full disclosure, I also became significantly side-tracked when I “accidentally” started researching my niece’s family tree (on their father’s side – the Maugeri’s). While I love researching my own tree, I’m a sucker for US research on families that were here during the Civil War (something which sadly I won’t find in my own family tree). Side projects like this help expose me to new record sets and geographic areas I have no experience with, which is important for me down the road when I’m ready to become a certified professional genealogist. I also spend a lot of free time learning and attempting to apply the many complex, yet extremely important source citations as I go along. Learning how to cite your sources when it comes to genealogy research is seriously more complicated and involved than it was using the APA style while writing my Master’s thesis! Once I get the hang of it, you’ll start seeing it pop up in my blog posts, so my information can be verified by any of you non-believers! πŸ™‚

On top of all of this, I’m about to send a letter to a new cousin from my great-grand aunt Veronica (nee Wisniewski) Grzegorczyk-Pechman’s line, letters to my great-aunt Olga (nee Serwanski) Brozova and great-aunt Lorka (nee Serwanski) Kutasiewicz in the Czech Republic and Poland, and I need to catch up with relatives I’ve been neglecting in Illinois. So while I may be slow with the blog posts, I’m still forever consumed with everything genealogy. πŸ™‚

Lastly, comments are fixed! Please feel free to leave comments on my blog posts, the videos, or anywhere else. πŸ™‚

Hello, I found your website and wanted to see about some family ties I may have. My family name is Vishnefski from Nanticoke, Glen Lyon PA. My Great grandfathers name was Teofil Wisniewski , born in 1870. He married Marianna Czaplinski born Oct 5, 1867 of Rypin, Poland. They had 9 children. He had a brother, unknown name but it was told that after arriving in America, the brother hated PA and went to Chicago area. its possbile he kept the last name of Wisniewski. I’ve been working on our family genealogy for years and trying to locate the lost brother. I live in Bossier City, La and can be found on Google and Facebook.
