Merry Christmas!

Boy – keeping up with a website is a lot more work than I thought it would be! I just wanted to let everyone know that I haven’t abandoned the site, I just haven’t had time to post because my research lately has been all over the board! I’ve been working on all of my normal lines, while additionally researching every Serwanski family I can find. It might seem like a waste of time – to research people that may not be related to me, but it’s giving me more and more practice, and it’s helping me create snapshots of other families. This way, if I DO find a connection, I’ll have already done some of the legwork. So far, I’ve found Serwanski’s that settled in Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and New York. I’ve also reached out to a few family members from my Serwanski line in order to keep that research moving along.

I recently had the pleasure of speaking with two absolutely wonderful *new* cousins, Esther (nee Smuszkiewicz) Drwal and Julia (nee Swiech) Grabowski.

  • Esther is the youngest daughter of my great-grand aunt Julia Knapp. Julia Knapp was a sister to my great-grandmother Martha Knapp Jucha. This makes Esther my 1st cousin, 2x removed.
  •  Julia Grabowski is the granddaughter of my great-grand aunt, Antonina (nee Kwasniewski) Kozubowski. Antonina was a sister to my great-grandmother Maryanna Kwasniewski Wisniewski. Julia’s mother Lottie was my 1st cousin, 2x removed, and this makes Julia my 2nd cousin, 1x removed.

Both women were great to talk to, and I’m looking forward to getting a chance to meet them in person after the holidays. And speaking of the holidays, this week I’ll be working on sending out my Christmas cards to everyone and I’m pretty excited about it! I don’t foresee having as much time to work on genealogy this month, but I do have a plan for the new year – 2 blog posts a month. I’m also hoping to create a new photo section on the site, much like what I have on Facebook but with many more photos. 🙂

Until then, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
